Mauritius: Horseback riding on the beach

1.Horseback riding on the beach

★★★★★★★★★★4.9 · 91 reviews · 1 hour · from $110Our pick

Spend one hour on horseback along Belle Mare Beach with Legasea Stables. You’ll first visit the sanctuary and its animals, then ride at a walk beside turquoise water with a French- or English-speaking guide. The horses suit beginners, helmets are provided, and optional photography or drone footage can be arranged in advance.

“It was an absolutely wonderful experience! I rode a horse named Picasso, who was extremely gentle, clean, and very sweet. Riding along the beach was truly magical and something I will never forget. The guide was very kind and professional, and he also took beautiful, high-quality photos of me with the horse. I am more than satisfied and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Mauritius.”

Mauritius Horse Riding at Riambel

2.Mauritius Horse Riding at Riambel

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 20 reviews · from $125

Ride along Riambel Beach on a private one-hour horseback outing with a professional guide. You’ll receive a safety briefing, riding instructions, and a helmet before following the shoreline at a pace suited to your group. Choose a daytime or late-afternoon departure, but note that sea riding is not included and sunset timing can shift.

“A bit underwhelming. Thought we’d get to go in the water - but that didn’t happen. Also, did ask to do the activity during sunset, was asked to come a lot earlier than sunset, therefore that didn’t happen. The organisers are very nice, experience just didn’t live up to my expectations is all.”

3.Horse riding on the deserted beach of Riambel

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 6 reviews · 1 hour · from $117Top rated

Ride along Riambel’s nearly untouched beach with the Centre Equestre de Riambel. Steve and the riding team match you with a rescued horse and adapt the pace to your ability. Beginners walk with support, while experienced riders may trot, canter, and enter the sea. Sunset rides are available, and groups are limited to seven.

“What a great experience at the Centre Equestre de Riambel. We are horse professionals ourselves and were thrilled. The horses are in a great condition, all healthy and very well maintained, they even have fans in the boxes against the heat. Everyone is very friendly and the ride on the beach was fantastic. We were in all basic gaits and also rode into the sea. If you are in Mauritius and want to ride, please book with this provider (Centre Equestre de Riambel), because here you can feel that they not only want to take the money out of the pocket of the tourists but the well-being of the horses…”

Confirm the exact route, duration, and riding details before paying.

“It was just a nice experience with a kind and knowlegable driver. The lunch in the Chamerel Rhumerie was nearly perfect. We did have an opinion of the Mauritian countryside”
